01 — Tools

What your agent can ask for

Four tools and one resource. Every tool is read-only and takes no arguments. Each one repeats the same note: the index is a risk score, so lower is healthier.

zensei_index_aboutWhat the index is, how to read the 0-100 score, and how it is built. Same wording as the Index FAQ.
zensei_index_todayToday's final score, its regime label, and the three layer scores: structural, filter, confirmation.
zensei_index_indicatorsThe ten indicators behind the score, each with its current status, group, weight, and explanation.
zensei_index_summaryThe latest written market summary, with its date and a stale flag when it is more than three days old.
zensei://index/aboutThe explainer as a markdown document, for clients that browse resources.
02 — Connect

Add it to your client

The server speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP. Point your client at the URL above. Pick your client:

Run once in your terminal. Claude Code lists the tools on its next start.

The server metadata and the Grok Build and Claude Code plugin manifest live on GitHub at wegravel/zensei-mcp. The official MCP Registry lists it as io.github.wegravel/zensei-mcp.

03 — Reading the score

Lower is healthier

The Zensei Index runs from 0 to 100 and measures risk, not strength. A rising number means conditions are getting worse. The score maps to four regimes:

0–20
Supportive
20–40
Vulnerable
40–70
Stressed
70–100
Restrictive

The score combines ten indicators across three layers. The zensei_index_indicators tool returns each one with the same explanation the Index page shows.

Structural conditionsWhether the environment is fundamentally supportive or constrained.
Tactical filtersShort-term dislocations, separating real volatility from noise.
Regime confirmationsWhether a regime shift is visible in price and cross-asset behavior.
04 — Limits

What the server does not do

It serves today only. There is no history and no chart data. For those, open the Index page.

It is public, so please be fair: cache the answer for a few minutes rather than polling. The index updates as new data arrives, not every second.

Zensei is an analytics tool, not a registered investment adviser. Nothing the server returns is investment advice. Read the full disclaimer.
